Recently interviewed at Facebook, and the virtual on-site ethnic composition was horrific - 4 Indians and 3 Chinese! After doing more research on FAANG, found out situation is quite similar! TC : 210k YOE : 9 Software Architect
Autodesk also is same. Isn't it
Yup, i mean of course not!
Your TC, Race, Gender OR GTFO?
This is the correct way to do it! Hire talent and statistically Chinese and Indians will be the majority of the hires because their home country is insanely competitive due to the population size.
Or is it that their job is to get the job? Just look at all the hiring practices these days like cramming LC GFG etc.
I mean I could say the same about me if I were looking for a job. I’m definitely going to grind like never before. When it’s as competitive as India and China, I’m sure we’re seeing people that grind literally 20/7 to get to that point.
OP, what were you expecting? Do you have siblings—do they have different ethnicities?
I’m confused… what’s horrific, exactly?
Red flag for sure. I have interviewed in companies that were either all Indian or all Chinese, or Korean (Samsung). The mono-culture it creates is bad. Also, if you see all immigrants/h1bs in a team is a red flag as the work conditions are not great and locals are not sticking around. This actually explains FB poor work life balance. Too many desperate people working there.

👆, also of your parents and siblings
From what I see in school, a lot of students in compsci are Asians and Indians, so that makes perfect sense to me.
More so if it is a backend/infra related team. Product used to have better "diversity"

Thing is that everyone has their biases, and you can very much be rejected by people of other cultures just based on that.
It’s not racist to want diverse background ppl to work with! TBH not everyone at FB and most tech companies is smart, and I checked everyone’s LinkedIn profiles and except one everyone else was average IQ in my panel! Not to mention the two recruiters I worked with were Asian and Indian
