My friend got laid off in Expedia but still has bonding leave left to take. They’ll give 60 days to find job. Can they apply for FMLA to pause the 60 day clock to extend time on H1B to search jobs?
I don't think it stops the clock once you are out of job. It helps to not get fired from a job as per my understanding. Hopefully someone has a definite answer. If he gets FMLA approved and company lets him go 2 months after FMLA ends he is good imo but

Bonding leave is no longer applicable from your friends current employer. Only if your friend finds a new employer, gets H1B transferred, then can take bonding leave depending on new employer policy

You mean even if FMLA is ongoing while layoff notice period ends it doesn’t matter? The moment notice period is done your USCIS clock starts?
