Extensively. Most of the Nooglers aren't digging it though.
How easy / convenient it is to ssh from it?
Very easy, there's an ssh chrome app that works smoothly.
I got it and I'm loving it so far.
Is it available in Indian offices as well?
I love it. Works for everything I need. Light, and great battery life. We disabled the assistant, so that kinda sucks. The stylus is pointless. 5/7 perfect score.
Why disable the assistant?
I've been using it for a few months now, and I really like it since most (if not all) SWE tools are within the browser. My only complaints are: only 2 USB-C outlets and weird behavior when out battery (won't immediately turn on even if plugged in). Besides those, I think it's really portable, and you can easily use it in many different scenarios (at desk, casually reading on the couch). Also, super excited to try running Linux apps at some point!
I'm considering buying one for personal use.
That's what I did. Love it as a personal laptop at home but I use a MacBook for work.
How do you code? What editor do you use? How can you compile or run maven?
No code on laptops, only desktops. We have a cloud ide if you want to code on laptop.
Do nooglers get a choice (could choose a mb pro if they wanted) or does it depend on what group you join? Wouldn't want to rock the boat if a new mbp is so much more expensive...
Yup they get a choice between all OS's, Windows, Linux, Mac, and ChromeOS, and several different laptop hardware.
Windows is allowed? Interesting. Do you force employees to use horrendous corporate images?
I have one and a MBP. The pixelbook hardware is suuuuper nice but I can’t play games on it :(

Is life really better in the US?
New Google person here - I was encouraged to get the Pixelbook as my primary device. So far - not really liking it. The massive bevels and the limitations of ChrimeOS are really grinding my gears. Best part - you can change hardware within the first 3 weeks - no questions asked.
You have to redo the whole setup again?
Yep. Setup hasn't been too bad - mainly the ohysical security keys and certs
