On their Netflix culture page: https://jobs.netflix.com/culture it says one of their 5 main points is “keep only our highly effective people” Does this mean they PiP a lot?
They pay so much most don’t care?
Amazon also pays a lot. The pay has nothing to do with it. Most kids on Blind don’t even make it to Netflix as they hire senior engineers and not Leetcoders. Not enough people to cry about it like the new grads cry about Amazon.
Yes, Netflix does trim bottom 10%
Key distinction is that there’s no required % whatsoever. If you perform well I don’t see there being any issues.
They don’t PIP, they fire on the spot!
InstaPIP
So you get severance?
They don’t PIP. They fire you. No chance to redeem yourself unlike PIP
I recommend the Netflix book, then you know more about the culture
Do you get severance?
Yup, and a fat package also. 4 months of total compensation when pipped.
Don't forget our base is our total comp, so that's a lot
no pip, but they will tell you if you aren’t performing. fire if still not improving common story is 4 months severance, which given all base, is a shut ton of money
I remember reading their strategy is to give people fat severance, to lure unhappy/underperforming employees out.

PM is irrelevant role and will die in next 2-3 years.
I mean every company pips in a way. If they kept all the coasters a company wouldn’t be able to prosper. Some companies are just more outright and ruthless while doing it.
