Asking because my company got bought by Oracle (deal closes in a few months) and my current company does not sponsor h1b and i140 visas while I try to find opportunities to get into the role. Trying to decide if I should wait for acquisition to be over or just apply elsewhere. Yoe - 9 Tc - 107k
how are you working now?
I am an engineer on h1b with approved i140 working with Cerner. Oracle bought cerner and the deal might close in a few months after which we will be oracle associates (if not layed off that is :/). Cerner currently has a horrible policy where they only sponsor h1b for engineers (they stopped doing this for engineers on visa transitioning to manager positions 2 years ago). So that means as an engineer your career plateaus as a lead engineer and you can’t be a manager or executive even if you spend decades here.
interesting. My bet is Cerner will remain a separate company, atleast for another 2/3 years. Oracle has individual career path and you dont need to explore people manager path
Yes they will , they are pretty good about it.

Which VISA are you talking about?
H1b and i140
I think yes. Oracle has liberal policies around this. When do you need H1B?
