Does Walmart hire remote or are they strict on-site?

Looking at a few design positions, and most job postings have Arkansas, CA, TX as locations. I’m in WA. Any idea if they would be flexible with location? How’s Walmart generally with respect to return to office? #tech #walmart #remote #returntooffice

It depends on the team and manager. You can ask recruiter

Have a friend who’s full time remote there for cybersecurity role, so they at least have some full remote roles

Depends on your manager. If your manager wants visibility around teams than you’re in trouble. 😅

WM has hired remote in the past. But remember that it is a very traditional conservative retailer. There is a very strong back channel push for RTO of two days per week in office. There's also a major push to hire in LCOL Bentonville and make it WM's Seattle.

Depends on org. Our seniors have told us they have no desire or need to increase our days in office from 1 to 2. As far as Bentonville.. we don't have any devs there and our group has devs in 3 locations. We're not a small group either.. just the groups cloud costs are >$1k per person per day. Bentonville cannot become Walmarts Seattle when the devs reside in the coasts and can get higher pay for lower positions compared to Bentonville

It depends on the manager but fyi there’s also a tech hub in Seattle that they just opened. 2 day per week RTO also depends on office location. As far as I know, only arkansas and india offices are doing it.

If the team sits in California, do they allow to work from Seattle office?

Morgan Stanley jsmystic Jan 29, 2023

They are open twice a week and there is a strong push for RTO. If you looking for remote, skip WMT

their longterm goal is to increase HC in AK . Basically they wanna make AK like how AMZN has made seattle.

Walmart kUuOjkIrAt Jan 30, 2023

I don’t think they’ll have much luck recruiting devs to Alaska 🤣

You need to be within 90 miles of a tech hub and they have about 10 of them spread around the country. The one for Seattle is actually in Bellevue above the Joeys restaurant

Ohh.. so, if the team is in California , do they allow to work from Seattle office ?

Amazon AWSuxr Apr 6, 2023

Depends on the team. Once you’re within 90 miles it’s most likely full time remote. That it move to Bentonville just to be safe.
