With <2 years of employment left, do recruiters automatically reject you when you apply? Has anyone been hired while on STEM OPT? Can you please share the details - I'm having a real hard time where I am now and thinking of jumping. I see hedge funds still interested/reaching out via linkedIn, but what about big tech/start ups?
Everyone hire, as long as you have valid visa and they have we provide visa sponsorship in additional job info. The market itself is bad and nobody are getting calls so itโs not your Visa thatโs hindering but the market
How do you know that 'everyone hire'? For example, Bridgewater Associates explicitly does not hire except at the start of your OPT (they need 3 full years of work auth from you)
Well you know the answer when they have specifically mentioned the condition, if there is no such conditions then they hire
Amazon used to hire, now I don't know. Microsoft hires with STEM opt, usually recruiter does a check with immigration team before proceeding with interviews
It's luck when it comes to Amazon. I would say to give it 2-3 months after layoffs usually, because laid off folks tend to take many of the internal roles.
Ok, thanks good people
