Plenty of arguments for and against breaking up eg Amazon and I have no strong feelings either way, but it's an interesting question if massive aws profits allow Amazon retail to basically buy all other retail into oblivion.. do you think that's the case, or that it matters ?

Another way to look at it, Amazon keeps AWS from completely dominating the cloud market. Imagine if all those profits were reinvested 100% into AWS instead of funding Amazon retail. AWS could offer unheard of TC + Google type of perks simply because the workforce is smaller and they would have more money than they would know what to do with.
Now that's the kind of creative thinking I'm looking for!
It is a flywheel currently. Amazon.com is best customer aws can have to test anything and get results immediately. In return retail gets cheaper aws and cutting edge tech and infinite balance sheet to bankrupt competitors.
