Does mobile full stack exist?

Title tells it all. I finished my interview with a company and the role requires to work on both Android(kotlin) and iOS(swift) apps with backend development. I have heard Android or iOS or web full stack or backend development. I find Android + iOS + backend very strange. Is mobile full stack the new norm? Also the role is from a FAANG company. Literally hard to digest. Please vote and comment below. Thanks in advance.

I mean it’s not that much more different than having someone that does web and backend. But I’ve never seen a role that required this before. Start the trend ;)

I feel android + iOS a bit too much. Web makes sense but managing two mobile clients I feel strange.

My last 2 companies were like this. React Native + backend

This company wants me to work on native code lol

That's a little more unusual

I worked on a stack like this last year. Now my team works on react native and back-end. It's really difficult and frustrating to manage so many clients. Better not join unless you're passionate about mobile dev

my life advice: just do one thing and do it well.

In my experience of job hunting in Big Tech the past few weeks, I haven't come across a "mobile full stack" position. It's surprising to hear that this is a FAANG company but I doubt it will become the norm. I think it's more common in smaller companies or software agencies where bosses prefer developers to be able to transition to different types of projects as needed. My first tech job was as an iOS engineer in a small software consultancy. I thought I would only do iOS, but pretty soon they had me doing Android development, then React Native, and when mobile development work dried up, they put me on frontend React projects and backend Rails projects. I think there is a bit of self-selection going on, some people prefer working with multiple tech stacks, so they gravitate towards those jobs. Those jack-of-all-trade developers tend to be really flexible in their work, but have difficulties working with complex iOS/Android APIs. Others prefer to stick with one platform. They can work much faster in that platform, but aren't useful for much else. Personally, I moved from group 1 to group 2 with my current job, I was tired of switching between so many different platforms. So I can't really answer your poll, because yes "mobile full stack" technically exists, and always has, but it's not "the new norm".

Use flutter or react native and then node.js in the backend?
