Otherwise, what value do US workers have to offer apart from being in-person M-F?
No, it's just cost cutting in a bad economy. These cycles happen. We just need to wait it out.
Do you hire a CPA in a different country because they are cheap or do you hire someone who knows their job?
It's both, actually. Many successful Bay Area CPAs outsource the actual work to India. All they do is meet clients and sweet talk them
Yea it does. It actually would be even worse for Europe.
Yes
Outsourcing to India and elsewhere has been happening since the early 2000s. All part of the 21st century globalization. Books like "The World is Flat" were widely praised by figureheads until we saw decades later what it actually meant for US workers and our jobs. Remote work isn't the problem, it's the lack of job protections that we have.
in a company like amazon it doesn't matter since most of the people working there are already Indians
I've observed it accelerate replacement of roles in south america. No timezone challenges with US companies.
It might, but companies could also save money if they encouraged remote workers to move to lower cost of living states in America
South America is cheaper and still in the same time zone
Ok, but American/Canadian employees are better for the business
