I worked in non-tech role when I finished my undergrad and looking for job was a pain in the ass because I required visa sponsorship without having STEM extension. Fast forward many years later, I finished a STEM grad program and currently work in a small company as a DE. I recently started applying for jobs again but all I got were actually rejection emails. I’m not sure if it’s because I need sponsorship in the future? Some job postings and rejection email do state that sponsorship requirement disqualify you, and I never thought that would still be the case for tech roles. How should I look for jobs that are friendly to us who need sponsorship in this case? Tc: 90k
Yes it does
I really feel for all of you guys who need sponsorship. Citizenship is a privilege I take for granted. Hang in there and I’m rooting for you to find your dream role soon 🙏
“I have two legs and I take them for granted” No, you were born in a place randomly. You don’t have to feel bad or good about it. It is NOT a privilege. These saintly dialogues scream “woke” I am not a citizen and I don’t see it as a privilege.
@ollogod wow you are angry. Is it because of your job? Look for another outlet instead of having a temper tantrum to random people on blind
Once you get to tech screen or onsite it does not. But I have good reasons to believe before that stage it very much does. As an employer why would I want to go through visa sponsor hurdle if I can find equal talent that does not need visa? And in this shitty market there is plenty of talent looking for lowball offers. In addition to that, hiring manager will probably want someone who can start working asap after given the offer letter i.e. someone who doesn’t need H1B transfer 🥲
Tech screen as in HR screening right? And does H1B transfer take a while to complete? One of my friend shared that he always applied stating that he didn’t need sponsorship. He would only let them know after he got an offer from them. I’m not sure if that’s a good approach bc I might have to look for new job if they don’t in the end which is a waste of my time, and possibly another year of H1 entry.
H1b transfer isn’t an issue but if you need new sponsorship your application will be insta rejected
Do you state that you need sponsorship in the future if you already have H1?
