Is Twitter the only company that doesn't or is this commonplace? I think it's kinda crazy Twitter let's users delete tweets but doesn't let their employees delete Slack messages. Heck, Twitter users can even make ephemeral tweets. Also, we can only edit Slack messages for 5 minutes. Maybe this isn't as big a deal for most people as it is to me but it definitely makes me second-guess myself before posting.
Amazon allows deleting messages
Im surprised they use slack. Do they not have their own IM service like Chime ?
I am even more surprised Amex uses slack π
Amazon can edit and delete.
Does Twitter also limit slack messages to 120 char limit too?
Hey, get with the times, tweets can be up to 280 chars now.
Why would any company have those restrictions ? How does it help them ? π«
Yeah, it does suck. I'm totally guessing here but I imagine it's so that people don't delete their questions after getting them answered.
We can edit and delete messages in slack
You guys should stand up your own rocketchat instance and just use slack to reply to people outside your org/team π
We can edit/delete Teams messages and posts at M$ too. Donβt know of a time limit if it exists. But, have edited several days old messages in the past.
It is legal policy to deal with retention issues pertaining to different litigation matters. Basically, you get sued you are obligated to keep shit instead of tossing it in the garbage
Yesss! We delete them! π»
