Does your company offer business etiquette training?

I just recently find out that is possible for a company to offer business etiquette (or cultural, say indian/asian culture) training. I am curious, is this a standard procedure in all big tech companies? Can developers have this kind of training?

I got training like that when I was stationed in Japan. Are you saying in the America?

I am asking because in a few days I will work alone (I am from romania) with fellows from US which are indians. I was wondering wether studying a bit the indian culture and us business etiquette will help me communicate better with my peers. My company does not offer this kind of training so I was wondering how it is done in big tech companies so I can make a study curriculum on my own.

In my opinion these trainings are useless in today's world since they paint everyone in the same brush. In old days when countries were more isolated it might have helped. For example I am brown and in older jobs we had consultants who would come visit us in India. They had these trainings and would be so confused since we would say "Morning!" and they would be wondering why we didn't join our hands and say "Namaste" like they were told in training. Then they would try awkward small talk from the training that looked so fake and rehearsed. If you are going to some rural part of India which has been closed off from globalization, then it might help. You can probably look at online videos on YouTube for a basic overview and not spend time on this training.

My Japanese company does not, and I wish they did. Japanese people can be very indulgent towards someone who knows _zero_ about their culture and language, but anything above zero and their expectations get very high, very quickly. The educated immigrant in the US whose English is at about 9.5 out of 10 won't make it in Japan at that level. It's total assimilation or nothing.
