I have worked at TikTok US core tech for 3 years. AMA.
Same at Dell, and Im afraid it will most likely work against you when they get notified. Better to apply externally or start building some rapport with the hiring manager through unofficial channels to improve your chances of getting hired.
They won’t know
Intel at one time used to notify the manager immediately. Thank goodness this changed a few years ago. That said mobility within Intel USA is extremely rigid (nearly impossible) these days. Most job growth is in India Russia Romania etc (low cost non-US geos)
At Facebook, they do. Right away Not a fan of it Idea is that your manager is supposed to support you in your wish to goto other teams and guide you. However, it has always backfired for me in the past. I fact, I even had a manager that held a grudge and gave me a bad rating despite being a consistent exceeds employee. And I felt that, I had done my best work that half! Screwed me over big time
