My manager asked to help another team for interviewing. That team manager assigns me one to two people every week. I have been interviewing people two to three levels above me. (I think there is no one else for this specialization to interview people.) It takes a lot of effort to write detailed feedback and sometimes prep questions related to a person's experience. Also, interviews are always late at night. Interviewing is not a part of my sprint, and I don't think my manager knows I have been doing this for the last 2-3 months. It seems like it doesn't help me in any way, in a promotion or getting ahead in the career. What is your take on it? How can I better navigate this situation?
Doesn't interview kind of build into job description? We are expected to do X number interviews and get called out if you are not. You should at let your manager know if he doesn't.
It is part of the job to do it for the team. Not for the entire company. @OP: you should definitely talk to your manager and provide substantial evidence to include this as part of promotion packet.
Usually, it's for entire company.
