Mexico won’t pay shit. No republican will sign up for a border tax. Taxing other goods and services from Mexico will be met with an equal and opposite tariff against the US. The US will lose every trade war with Mexico, just like they will lose every trade war with China. Which leads me to my main point. No Republican is interesting is Trumps derp spiral wall shit. They’ll just fund a small segment of the wall to shut him up. Republicans are fine pissing money away. They already voted to piss away 1.5 trillion to the national debt with the latest tax bill. I said we’d lose the trade war with Mexico. Not that we’d be crying about it. We have a significant trade deficit with Mexico, so by definition we will lose with mathematical certainty. Really we’d pay for the wall twice. First with our tax dollars, then again with higher prices on food, commodities, and finished goods from Mexico. The point is no Congressmen will give Trump any kind of border tax, so this silliness of Mexico paying for the wall is pure rubbish he’s telling his base to make them feel good. Mexico has VAT they can adjust any time they want to get around NAFTA anti-tariff regulations. They already have ab net 32% VAT-imposed tariff against the US.
