After a lot of Leetcode, got offers from all three, all are for a Sr Software Engineer with a TC in the ~350-400k range. What do folks think is the best organization to join for long term career/stock growth (4+ year)? DoorDash: - Pros: Fast, nimble, pre-ipo, founder led, leading the US market - Cons: Not sure about profitability, and moat of business in a post Covid world Instacart: -Pros: Similar to DD, Covid greatly helped the business, pre-ipo and founder led, lots of room for impact - Cons: Not clear about long term Uber: - Pros: Larger company, liquid stock, more established eng culture, have declared they will be profitable next year, diversified business (rides, eats, freight, etc) - Cons: not sure about impact opportunity due to size, heard concerns about leadership, recent layoffs and attrition leading to low morale in teams according to Blind Would appreciate any and all insights from ppl, especially from DD and Uber
Uber. Joining at $45 is still a good deal
What level are you for senior at Instacart (L5 or L6), curious about your offer 😅
Uber dude! Engineering quality and tools are better than many in FAANG
Hahaha. Thanks for the laugh
Ha ha.

Uber is in a state of transition. A lot of people are leaving. Can be a good opportunity for ambitious new people. A lot of good engineers continue to move from Uber to Doordash, for whatever that means. On the other hand, Doordash appears to be burning VC cash in ways that Uber can't do anymore. Is any of it sustainable? Don't know much about Instacart but they seem to have benefitted from COVID the most. Their talent doesn't seem as strong as the others but maybe a healthier business?
Chaos is a ladder. I joined before previous layoff and making $$$$$. Not bad for ambitious people. Also, attrition seems to be team dependent and case by case. For me, I am not gonna leave in foreseeable future unless being laid off, and the risk is pretty low given the current trajectory and we are very short of staff
Based on LinkedIn, Isn’t a lot of instacart eng from Facebook, Uber, Amazon? Most joined in last 6 months but still
what was your Instacart offer breakdown?
DoorDash. Trust me.

Incredible to me that people would still vote Uber here, despite 4+ years of stagnant stock and recent employee churn. Shows how much brand name matters.
Uber eng quality is indeed much higher Uber>>instacart>Doordash. But of course, this should account for a very small factor
Curious how come you think instacart has better eng quality than dd? Any anecdotes or data?

Modi is a legend, will be remembered for centuries to come
Uber went through a significant layoff didn’t they? I’d assume they really focusing on bottom line more. Laws and regulations will hurt the company but honestly they hold a decent monopoly in ridesharing. I only use Lyft if Uber is not available and people I know only use Lyft because they don’t like Ubers CEO political stance
