Doordash is treating engineers like Slaves. Dragging poor engineers into meetings with HR and firing them for Low performance without a chance to prove their innocence or a PIP to improve. Straight up terminated without notice. There is a fixed Quota for this and apparently it's as high as 6-10%. They are adopting these fear tactics so that engineers on h1b are scared into working harder. Extremely sad and shameful and undignified manner of treating humans. Spread the news like wildfire. Their HR bots and Managers are defending this evil practice by claiming it's business. But in reality they are aware that such evil practices will make slaves work harder. Do not join Doordash no matter what.
Based on other posts calling H-1Bs slaves - So shaming H-1Bs is just Victim Shaming. Why not shame the oppressors and callout their race too.
There has to be a better aggregator than race for this... Citizenship state?
Sure, that might be appropriate.
Engineers were always slave
All over the news that they need more delivery people.
Their ad spend must be huge lol
They have genius marketing. Update the app with some message, inform a reporter and its all over the news.
And you work for Uber(a competitor). Not sure if I trust you
OP any comments?
Lol, OP is likely another H1B holder working a job for pay and visa status. It’s not like he is a C-level executive at Uber. Uber failing or succeeding makes little difference to him so long as his visa status is maintained and he get his meager pay.
Without notice? Is that legal? And what about severance?
Is this not true everywhere? Engineers need to unionize.
Source? Trust me bro?
Yeah you won’t find him posting a source. The same 2 morons from Uber keep posting this same post once in a while - unbelievable levels of butthurt to write nonsense like this over and over I’ll give you a much better source: I was at DD for over 5 years and never once did I see an improper termination as described here. The people who got terminated were always incompetent folks who couldn’t get their work done and were given more than enough chances. There 1000% isn’t some grand scheme to lay off all the H1Bs silently which is just laughable Uber must be a truly weird place to work if their employees have time to do stuff like this (maybe their management even encourages it)
You are no longer at Doordash. These new practices of terminating engineers with a fixed Quota has a hidden agenda. That is to scare engineers into working harder
Blind can’t help. Only you have the evidence supposedly. Email Tony directly with your evidence and fix it.
Sounds illegal, blow the whistle
Perfectly legal unfortunately because the affected employees are h1b engineers from India and China. Sadly this race has no voice in the eyes of law.
That's not true, the law applies regardless. That said, they probably know that H1B holders are more isolated and less likely to know their rights or where the law protects them or what to do about it if a law is being broken against them. And it's probably more difficult to take legal action from a purely logistical perspective. There's no harm in just talking to a lawyer and seeing what your options are.
