1 vs 5 Million - no lifestyle change
All access has been removed at 12am midnight. Mac got locked, slack got signed out, GitHub account has been removed. Everyone was so panic, thought there was a technical glitch at first, but no one from the IT oncall team was asked to fix the issue, so it seemed more likely to be a massive layoff. According to other survivors’ information, around 200-500 engineers’ accounts have been deactivated. No emails, no announcements, no news about it. No HR/Manager chat before removing all access. Such a good timing, just before the holiday season. Even Twitter or Amazon did not layoff in such sneaky way. Shame on you Doordash. ** I posted this immediately after my access being cut off last night. I didn’t know anything about the severance package at that time. Emails were sent early in the morning.** #layoff #tech #doordash
Oh f nooo
That’s fucked up these companies are getting so disgusting.
Most layoffs were actually done this way. Its supposed to be “sudden” so employees can’t retaliate. It’s just that big tech like Meta and Amazon had so many employees who leaked the layoffs. But in general, any rumours of performance management, ranking employees and a “quota” for management to fill - is a sign of impending layoffs.
It's normal for layoffs to be a surprise and access removed immediately, but not telling anyone for hours is not typical and it's definitely garbage behavior.
They were hiring even last week. Fully f..Ed company.
They scheduled an interview for tomorrow!! Damn
My friend got an offer from them last week. They were actively hiring…
Worst layoff award winner if this is true.
This is true. We are discussing all this in blind Doordash channel. No one knows what’s going on..
I agree with this. This is the worst form of layoffs I have heard of. This is worse than Better.com because that CEO at least took the responsibility to announce it on video.
So sorry if you got impacted! They do it to customer too, once I took a yearly subscription suddenly my orders were almost always batched with other orders, that’s when I knew they were a shitty company
Scumbags gonna scumbag, why are you surprised? This is a company that took customer tips and used it directly to pay contractors, which are illegally misclassified.
I’m not surprised at all. The culture is so toxic here. I already signed an offer somewhere else and planned to leave soon. This is some place you never want to work at. Pay is low, workload is heavy.
Oh, so that means you're getting severance? It's awful what they did to you, but you must be pretty happy with the timing!
Wow DoorDash too? I’m sorry OP. I find it strange that you wouldn’t even get an email at least letting you know you’ve been terminated. Maybe it’ll come in the morning?
That’s shitty, Even Elon seems to be kind now! What’s happening in doordash blind channel?
Is this happened today?
Just happened. Like 2 hours ago.
Don't they have to comply with the WARN act though? Why don't you have 60 days notice? What's severance like?
