Make your choice
Just received my W2 and realized that I’ve made over a million dollars last year. My life isn’t significantly better, I don’t have a private jet, I drive a very normal car and I still have almost 30 years on my mortgage. Just wanted to share this story with everyone else who is chasing dollars, there is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Curious to hear from other members of the club. Do you feel your life is in any way different now that you make that ridiculous amount of money?
Well now maybe you can afford to buy that 3bed 2 bath tear down next to the Caltrain tracks. Congrats.
Come on, it's only a million. No way OP can afford two baths.
I made my first million by 30 and my next ten million by 35. Your achievement is not notable.
Rude
How'd you go from 1 to 10 so fast?
how much did you pay in taxes?
More than half of it
Life is the same. If anything, it makes it harder to get excited about the future of my career...
Don’t expect significant changes for such a small amount. If you had $100M or $1B you could do more things. Only thing is you can retire early with decent lifestyle if you choose
But that’s kind of the point of this post, people are chasing marginal improvements in their compensation and are debating which job to take based on a $20K/year difference where even a $1M/year doesn’t make a huge difference
Yes that is true. Once you have a home that is paid off the expenses are dramatically lower and you just don’t utilize as much money
But this is only a year right? If you make this much every year, then its a different story
How did you make a million dollars?
Came in through a small acquisition, got equity, the stock did very well since, nothing too fancy honestly
