Down-leveling for Meta or stay at Bloomberg?
I have about 3.5 years of experience (8 months at Bloomberg/USA as SWE). I got a return offer from the Internship I did at Meta last summer. Problem is it is E3 level. However, the manager is saying that he would be able to push for E4 promotion in 6-8 months (July '24). I'm not sure how reliable the promotion timeline is. I would also have to take a small pay cut from my Bloomberg TC. I don't like my current team at all which is what's pushing me toward considering the role at Meta. Current TC - 250k Meta E3 TC - 140k base + 50k stocks + 50k signing bonus

Because you are at Bloomberg, going to Meta will be better for WLB. and promo to E4 within a year is real. Many E3 get it, you'll do better. Once you are at Meta, you'll have a much better brand value. Within 5 years you can crack E5 at most companies out there .
How's going to Meta better for WLB? I think one year to E4 is doable but 6-7 months is kinda ambitious. Other option is staying here, leetcoding and getting out as E4 in a few months

E3s get promoted to e4 within 18 months or they’re out
If it’s 250k cash than stay. But if the base is comparable then leave.
If there is no fear of pip, just wait 6 months - leetcode and then interview again for E4. No need to take pay cut for brand value and false promises unless your current 250K TC is dependent on some non-discretionary bonus which you might or might not get.
I know a couple people who went e3 to E5 in 2-3 years if your manager is good then meta otherwise Bloomberg
Idk why you would sacrifice and risk stability+comp by jumping to meta.
