10 jobs in 14 years. Averaging around 1.5 years per job. No gaps. Each time I jump it's because a recruiter reached out and each time it's been a 30% or more increase, plus title bump or equivalent. I do well on my teams. No burned bridges. What's the downside of keeping this up?
I wouldn’t hire someone who did that. On boarding takes time and money.
What's your threshold though? 5 years per role? It used to be 8 years on average - times a-changing
1.5 is too short, I’ll tell you that much. It would be the same if I saw large gaps in your employment history. You have no dedication and are just money grabbing.
Keep it up.
1.3^10=13.8 Did you start at McDonald's or are you just full of shit
I don't understand what you learn and apply in 1.5 years of tenure. 🤔
Well if you compare it to agencies and consultancies they do the same things with their projects. Same thing.
My question is how could you not learn anything in the 1.5 years?
You should open interview prep course training and can make millions
Not bad. I'm on my 5th job in 15 years and make the same TC, so it doesn't look like it hurt you. Longest stint was 8 years, shortest 1. I did get to build deep expertise and relationships at the 8 year company, though, so if you're missing anything it's that.
Earlier I used to think that this MO will not get anyone anywhere, but I've finally managed to understand, that it all depends on what that individual is capable of. Like one of the blinder here, many might not hire you, on the contrary, you will find people who would want to hire you so that you come in, setup and then peacefully leave. Someone in an early stage startup would love a person like you because you won't really tap their option pool. Just my $0.02
True
This is absolutely true. I am a job hopper myself and so far managed to switch jobs every 1.5 year on average and still get promotions in the normal time frame of 2 years on average. I do think however that at some point if you want to go for director level positions, relationships and deep understanding of processes, people, and industry will be needed and that usually comes only from longer stints than 1.5 years.
👏 beautifully done sir, I could learn from you. I think some companies will care, but maybe not the ones you want to work at.
TC?
400 if I hit targets
Congrats. That’s awesome. I assume you’re only hopping when recruiters reach out to you. If that’s the case then they clearly see no issue with your history. Do it until they stop calling
