While I enjoy the occasional drink, I want to know why so many people drink on a daily basis. And I'm not talking about addicts or alcoholics, but people who enjoy a glass or two of wine or a couple whiskeys everyday? Heck it's gotten to a point where it's normalized on Instagram for content to show little kids pointing at wine bottles and calling it mommy juice. Moms showing that they can't get through the day without it. Men training their dogs and kids to fetch them a beer from the garage fridge. Is it a coping mechanism? Whats it doing for you when you drink daily? #workingparent #wine
I like to have a drink or two most nights right after I mind my own business.
Not really bucko. You're on here poking your nose.
Hey man I’m just trying to have a good time 🙃
Personal choice is the key aspect. People do like the taste of it and of course they affect your brain and nervous system similar to what coffee, tea and nicotine does. It has a feel good factor after a long exhausting day. Why do so many people drink coffee or tea or smoke cigarettes on a daily basis? multiple times in a day? Sometimes multiple times within an hour?
drinking a few drinks every day is considered alcoholism fyi
Not quite alcoholism.. but 1-2 drinks per day (even if it’s binged in a few days and averages out) is considered heavy drinking. And it’s really bad in the long term. Wish I had a much better grasp on this much earlier in life. Alcoholism is when you can’t control the urge or need to drink. Having a few a night doesn’t exactly equate to that.. it’s when you’re worsening your life because you cannot stop yourself
NIH defines alcoholism as 7 drinks per week for women and 14 drinks per week for men. So in most cases a drink or two each day is alcoholism.
Gene! Genetically speaking some people are more into addiction
have you watched “madmen”? if anything, people drink less today. and yes, it’s coping
I'm in my 30s and get a really good buzz from 1-2 beers, but don't really like getting drunk anymore. So i end up going through a six pack over the course of a week. The buzz feels extra good/satisfying after an exhausting long day of work (i.e. every day). It's 100% an addiction, but you asked why people do it and the answer is because it feels good. 🤷♂️
It's almost like they enjoy it, weird, huh? Let's title the next post "Watching Netflix!" or "Watching Porn!" or "Smoking!"
I have a glass of red wine 🍷 almost every evening either with my dinner or after. I love it bc it has a slightly sedative effect to get me ready for bed. But mostly, my fave and maybe only selling point is that 🍷 contains resveratrol. Potent antioxidants.
For me, having a beer or a glass of wine helps me relax after a busy day. I have it most days. I dont see a problem with that.
because they can. Some folks have incredible health that doesnt get rekt by drinking until it does
