Basically everyone is wfh unless the team is planning a big meeting. Less flexible than hybrid model because no one has a desk anymore. What about the free food perk? Will employees get a stipend for free meals? https://blog.dropbox.com/topics/company/dropbox-goes-virtual-first
It’s not like Dropbox is doing anything these days, so why not?
What innovation are you seeing elsewhere that Dropbox is not participating in? I've always seen it as does one thing and does it well and does it reliably. I dislike some of the desktop app functionality and would prefer just to have the syncing but I can see the utility for other people
Look at dropbox stock. Now look at the stock of literally any other company that offers dropbox-tier compensation.
will TC be scaled depending on where you live?
I'm conflicted, no commute will be nice, but it's clear the company is saving money and we aren't getting any of that. I guess our stock might rise.
Smh. “Free” food is not a perk. It’s a ploy to make you work longer without noticing.
They served free lunch, how does that make you work longer??
Grab food and eat at your desk instead of taking a break.
I think that food stipend is called your salary
Shhh
rip I never even got to taste Tuck
Lki
Shopify did the exact same thing. Feels like a pay decrease to lose the office perks, free food, etc. Hopefully they can find a way to make up for it
Don't expect any corporation to hand out free things to you. Techies are giving up significant perks for nothing. The fact is that all these tech companies could make money hand over fist giving you free food, super expensive/sq ft office space, among other perks. Now that want to keep the wfh productivity gains, cut the perks, and cut the salary if you dare leave. Absurd. Techies think they have a strong labour position yet they will accept this treatment which, frankly, is a slap in the face. People's employer took shit away from them and the response is like, ah well, i didn't need that extra stuff, I'm getting enough as it is. Wtf? Companies can easily afford all this stuff. They could afford it before, they can DEFINITELY afford it now. They choose not to. At your expense. Edit: removed a word that people are completely unable to see past.
Unions, no thanks! Unions are the single reason workers in other industries are exploited so bad. Just bribe the leaders and you can exploit everyone else. Tech workers are good as a distributed pressure group, just like bitcoin, tor and internet. No need of centralized unions.
It is not only Dropbox. Many many other companies have basically announced the same thing. Is Silicon Valley dying?
WFH forever.......
I wonder about the future of commercial real estate
A stipend for free food? Srsly?
Yeah why not? Many are acting like wfh isn’t a huge win for the companies and usually a loss for employees (at least in terms of benefits/compensation)
Also to be honest a lot of ppl only want to go to Dropbox for their Michelin star worthy caf
