Given the current economy that we are in, should I take the risk and jump from Microsoft to Dropbox? Microsoft TC 180k - share likely will rise Dropbox TC 240k - share likely will drop, not including sign on Is the TC worth it? How is dropbox doing business wise? Any layoff going to happen? Does the company reimburse everyone's lunch now or nah? Seen the other post on dropbox vs google, curious to see what people think of Microsoft. Personally I think I will enjoy more working in dropbox in comparison to Microsoft with the younger vibe and active environment, but don't have enough information about the company, the org and the team though, hence asking for opinion here. How is WLB in dropbox? For people voted for Microsoft, how much more bump in TC would change your mind?
May I know what position did u apply for ? All the positions on jobs page require 5 or 9 years of experience.
Don't rememeber what position this is but there are plenty on the job portal
Hi, I just checked now, I don't see anything for 3 yoe. Can you give a link ? Maybe I am missing something obvious. Thanks
I really love the Dropbox culture... they take care of employees really well! Myself interviewed for director role last year and couldn’t cut it, I would definitely give a try if another opp opens up! However, not sure if the shares ever jump and that was one of my questions to hiring mgr and they said banking on DFB(Dropbox for business) not sure if that’s still a thing but Dropbox folks can comment!!
Yep I really like their culture as well, seem energized and very active. Not sure about WLB though
I thought dropbox was famous for PIP culture.
U meant amaz?
Definitely not
Dropbox seems like a great option to jump to from MSFT. If you’re really concerned about long-term stability, you could make a jump to a more stable company (or even return to MSFT) after a couple of years.
Great culture, no lay-off concerns. work is boring
Heard there are many new initiative coming up on dropbox? Work boring as in good wlb?
Seattle or bay?
Makes no difference, all remote for now
I want to know if that's bay area TC or Seattle
I have worked for both in the design org and really love the culture at Dropbox. My team at Microsoft was young but seemed to lack emotional intelligence as it was a team full of new grads that would play super loud music all day everyday in our studio. It was fun but really chaotic. I love my job at Dropbox and love the people. Super excited about the product direction as well. There’s a lot of opportunity for growth.
As a user, for me Dropbox has been the same since many years. May I know what growth r u talking about ?
I don’t know enough about what type of Dropbox user you are in terms of frequency of use or SKU to effectively engage with your question and I wonder if this question is being asked in good faith. Happy to meet a user though!
No lunch reimbursement now 🤣 Share price been going down and probably will keep doing it. Refreshers are about the same as FAANG, about 1/4 of initial grant. Not sure if Microsoft does the same TBH I really doubt I’d choose Microsoft even if the TC was the same
What's wrong with Microsoft ?
Microsoft refresher is 🥜 1%?
Avoid Dropbox
Why?
Just came from there. Past it’s prime. No solid corporate strategy. Lots of execs left over last 12 months - always a bad sign. Tech stack is a mess internally.
No layoff bruh stonk will rise
This aged poorly.
actually stock is up 25% 🤨
