Hey all, I just accepted an offer at Dropbox since the team sounds really cool and the offer was good. However, I have seen the stocks been dropping like crazy and that their C levels are leaving. Anyone has insights to the mood at Dropbox in response to these events or insights to Dropbox's outlook? I don't think Dropbox would disappear overnight, but I do worry about layoffs...
Which team and which location are you joining
I don't really know how DropBox stays in business. It's just Google Drive / OneDrive with no apps for the content.
How can u keep 600k TC with such a noob view of tech?
Pretty much every business uses either Microsoft Office or Google Docs. Let's just ignore Quip, lol. So you've already got a storage and file sharing solution. What the hell is DropBox for? Seriously. What does DropBox do better?
I heard some companies use their paper(similar to google docs) product.
Paper is the best.
Did you try notion.io?
Milk the cow while it lasts.
Morale is kinda low, but it's still not bad company. Food, gym, coffee, 401k match. Hopefully stock won't go lower.
Outlook not so good
For Apple users I don’t see the reason to use Dropbox anymore. I subscribed Dropbox Plus over two years and won’t pay the subscription fee anymore. Their fees are the same as iCloud, and the support of iCloud is more extensive, why should I use Dropbox now?
Haven’t seen layoffs.. possibly because enough ppl are voluntarily quitting everyday.. No real innovation.. also the morale is low and the culture in general is not very welcoming (even though it seems like that before you join).. old timers have inner circles and act like they know everything (they probably do) but are unwilling to help new folks in..
are u working for dbx now?
is this SF office or Seattle office culture?
dropbox offer numbers please? also how is it going at dbx
tc and yoe
