Seattle or Bay Area

I am considering relocating from New York to West coast. Which would you recommend in terms of job markets, life quality, gender ratio, and green card processing time? (I am in 485 adjustment of status, heard differen offices had different processing time)

Bay Area = sun Seattle = rain

Haha, that is intuitive! What about others like job markets?

Amazon wHqe42 Oct 27, 2023

Same companies have branches in both cities so not very different. Bay Area has more.

Why? Stay in nyc - lived in both Bay Area and Seattle - neither is worth it

Both are good for that. What is your opinion about rain / overcast weather?

Why would you leave the east cost? Only advice : don’t.

Not everyone loves to live in NYC. I lived there for a year and could not bear it

Amazon rockstaaar OP Oct 27, 2023

In Seattle, Google, Amazon, and Microsoft are all right next to each other. Tons of Amazon offices too.

Job market: Def SF. Outside of Amazon and MSFT, the Seattle office is #2 or lower for most large tech companies. Also, most hot startups or initiatives (currently AI/ML) are all centered in SF. Life quality: SF is much more social (probably because it's sunny). Seattlites really only hang out in the summer and in the winter, they all stay in unless you're a ski bum. Things close at 8 or 9 in Seattle and nightlife is really only in 2-3 neighborhoods. Gender ratio: Equal but I think it's easier to date in SF to be honest. If you're coming from the East Coast, good luck. You can put your Hinge in SF and Seattle and see how that goes, but guaranteed that on the East Coast, you get more likes. I think dating in Seattle is a bit tougher because people are way more coupled up than in SF where more people are single. Green card processing time: I don't think it matter - they're both rough on the west coast.

Nobody is living in Seattle/SF urban area. Seattle’s suburbs much safer comparing to rest of Bay Area
