What is law/policy if one like a start weekend side business? Is written employer permissions needed to do real estate business? #amex #siliconvalleybank #Nortonlifelock #amazonbenefits #arizona #phoenix #deloitte
The reason Silicon Valley ended up in California is that under California law it is illegal to prevent people from working. As such, it is trivial to move between companies because contracts forbidding you from working for competitors are unenforceable. The worst they can do is fire you. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/traitorous-eight-feted-as-california-icons-2011-05-10 Arizona law? Good luck.
The era of non-compete may be coming to an end. Please note that if this does make it into law, it is about post-employment restrictions. https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2023/01/ftc-proposes-ban-on-noncompete-clauses-says-they-violate-workers-legal-rights/
You don’t need to get an approval to start a side gig unless it competes with your current employer. Do not use the company’s laptop or other equipment for the purpose of your own small business and you’ll be fine.
Depends on employment contract. If you didn’t sign off your ability to own an additional business, you should be good to go. Just don’t do shit on company time/devices. Additionally, your employer probably wouldn’t give a shit about the side hustle anyways.
