It’s disappointing to see the type of attention seeking, arrogant, immature, cringy trash that is coming from some folks at OpenAI. They are not representative of the attitude of the many peers that I work with. A lot of employees have no idea what Blind even is. They have better shit to do than seek the validation of total strangers. We have a high turn over rate; there are exited folks that have an incredibly negative view of the org, rightfully or not and are vocal on this platform. There are also existing employees that have a negative view of the org, whether due to politics, burnout, competition for promotions, feeling deeply excluded from a team - there is no shortage of reasons for an employee to be unhappy here. We are not immune to the same problems as any other high growth company in an intense industry. I’m not in HR, comms or doing this for damage control. This type of shit irks me so I guess in that vein, these shit posters are winning. This place has the highest concentration of incredibly hardworking, talented group of people that I’ve ever had the opportunity to work with. It doesn’t mean we haven’t hired terrible people either. I’m just asking to take this shit with a grain of salt and that we’re not all gloating, hateful pricks. #openai
tbh… now im curious what those shitposts are lol talk about streisand effect
What's your TC though? Your company pays a lot!
HR doesn’t pull 900k TC
I always take negative blind reviews with a grain of salt but your post is kind of validating what some of the other posts say. “High turnover rate” = either people are unhappy or the company is setting unreasonable bars, or possibly both.
The turnover is more often initiated by the org for low performance. The bar is high but because there is a huge chunk of unreasonably high performers here. You can’t fault them for where they bar set. We wouldn’t be where we are today without it. It does, however, become glaringly obvious if you can’t meet the expectations of the role after a few weeks. There is an incredible amount of incentive to at least make it through one year. Anything short of that is probably not an unhappy employee simply throwing the towel in.
Thanks for confirming, that sounds toxic.
Believe your own experience. High turnover rate, during explosive growth, means it's a shitty cut throat environment.
Not sure why you would even care about those posts. Personally, I would only care if I was the owner. Sam, is this you?
I’ve had a half dozen candidates express their concerns about whether this was a common attitude.
I have a question, do you guys at openai smoke pot and beer onto daylight near office. I’ve head some X-openai devs have done so and I feel it’s incredibly unprofessional, not sure if you are voluntarily going for this tho
What does this post seek to accomplish? Is this not also a shitpost?
Blind is 40% bots, 40% poopposting, and 40% liars, with various overlaps
I'm most interested to know what the overlaps looks like.
OP is just trying to save the brand of his toxic company in order to improve the value of his CV
