How long does it take to get promoted from E4 to E5 at Meta. My wife is joining, though she has 8 years of experience and interviewed for E5 but she got down leveled to E4. How long will it take to go to E5
Depends on how she performs. It's not a bad thing to start as E4 here.
What's your household TC OP
I have seen people at E5 being from 5 years experience to 15 years experience. There is alot of range in able to do a E5 job. Some can do it easily and never target for promotion ( talking about EU, as I am based here ). I have also seen E4 with 10 years of experience and with 3-4 years experience ( usually new grad who was hired directly ) - but if the person has a lot of experience and starts operating at E5 it wont take long to get promoted - doable in 1 year. If they are getting a salary raise - I would recommend joining.
Nicely said.
E4 is good and have her take time for the promotion, it may not be worth sacrificing more time for a little higher pay
Forget all the fast numbers. The realistic story is start working on it in second year. Complain about manager a bit, get promo case end of y 2, get turned down, and get promoted near end of promo clock y 2.5. Being real lol
2 years practically speaking, 1y is not easy, especially with the current environment at Meta
I turned down my e4 offer (10 YOE) because I now have a life. I know couple of my buddies working there, one has gone mentally insane, other one got divorced. YMMV.

In kind of a similar situation, I wish to get promoted ASAP. Recruiter told me E4s are expected to get promoted within 2 years. Is that not true?
1 year is what I heard
That's very fast.
Don't listen to the 1y thing, it's unlikely. 2 years is the what it'll practically take
