I am looking for senior roles that support worldwide remote work ~ 3-6 months a year from Pakistan. My parents are in their late 60's and I'm trying to find a job that can support remote work so I can visit them often. I have seen some interesting job openings from KeepTruckin and Educative.io. Also Google has now one month policy to work from anywhere too. Does anyone know of companies that support such setup of working from Pakistan? TC: 350k PhD, ML/AI I'm a permanent resident so visa is not an issue. #pakistan #remote
Do you want to work from Pakistan or work in US for a Pal based role?
Primarily its the states but keeping in view that I have to care for my elderly parents, i need to find a reasonable job that allows me to manage work from Pakistan too.
What is a Pal based role?
Incidentally, can you set a router that’s configured as a vpn server AND vpn client to only spoof the location and not mask anything else? Don’t want security to flag your traffic as being masked. You just want your ip to appear as if you’re local. Nothing suspicious about a local IP address.
I will check for geo-spoofing but i do think that zero-trust security model may have a way to deal with it but i will definitely check on it
Aren’t you worried about security risks?
Yes unfortunately Pakistan cannot insulate itself from Afghanistan’s uncertain future. Instability in the region has always been a threat. Given that now US has withdrawn its army, there will be a backlash. Unfortunately, already half of Afghanistan is now under Taliban's control and in the upcoming months it will be worse. A backlash is expected but generally metropolitan cities including Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi etc are considered to be safe.
Pakistan is the one creating the mess in Afghanistan.
@nllyfrtado makes a good point. Make sure it’s not against company policy to even have your equipment in Pakistan. Obviously, you’ve disabled all the location settings on your work cpu.
Why can't you bring your parents here to live with you?

I understand that is the way to go about it. But for them to be in US for longer period of time, they need green card. I have to apply for their visit visa before that too. Also given the age and their family/social circle, it will not work on the longer term. I'm also trying a way to get that part taken into account too.
Can’t you just get a vpn to geospoof your location so that you appear to be working from, idk, SF?
I had given that a thought of using multi-layered VPN or maybe using workstation hosted in AWS. But someone told me that its likely to break federal laws if I don't inform HR prior to remote work.
