Does the NFL actually care for improving diversity within coaches and above?
I think the “and above” here is critical. Black coaches aren’t a novelty anymore but the next step is seeing diversity in GMs (which exists to some extent but could be better) and then ownership.
Can they hire an Asian coach? And then an Indian coach?
And latino coaches. And female coaches
This is whataboutism. Coaches typically are people who have spent a lifetime in the world of football, starting with a playing career - and it’s only recently that even a handful of Latino or Asian players have started to appear. It would be more likely for a Polynesian head coach to be the next demographic represented.
Another problem is NFL coverage w women announcers. The men running the broadcasts are afraid to let a woman do it. Many broadcasters are explayers but half are just male sportscasters who never played.
NFL is where elites to go prove that their success wasnt a fluke. More meritocracy than bs political and corporate worlds....thus no diversity quotas nor lgbq bathroom protests.
Where do you work that the corporate world is not a meritocracy, let me guess, you are an MBA? Software engineering is all about can you solve the problems in front of you.
Just like tech, We need more representation for underrepresented minorities in NFL. Where are the Asians, Indians and Latinos? This is structural racism. Same for NBA, and NHL. /s
OP has never heard of the Rooney rule apparently.
Or watched football
Google Tom Flores.
Yes. There are and have been many black coaches.
diversity doesn’t only include black coaches FYI.
