Recently, an Indian colleague (and friend) of mine had his immigrant petition filed under EB2 category. He was complaining about how time-taking it is for Indians and Chinese to get their green cards owing to the huge queues, a complaint similar to the one I had heard from my Manager (Indian as well). I looked up the dates for each country, and it seems they are nowhere close to each other, China's date seems to be mid 2016 while India's date is mid 2009. Why do Indians (both on blind and IRL) club the two countries - India and China - when they talk about EB2 dates? As an outsider it would appear that the situation for China is much better. I saw this same trend on Blind, a simple search on the topic will show you what I mean. Why add China to the list when you complain my Indian bros? (fyi: European on L visa, no plans to immigrate) #workvisa #h1b #eb2 #greencard
Ppl who applied in 2016 are getting now ... and itâs moving at slow pace it doesnât mean who ever applied today gets it in 4 years ... similarly for India.
@Adobe: Yes, I can see how that would happen but regardless the situation seems far too grim for Indians when compared to the Chinese. What I'm pointing out is the tendency of Indians to club the 2 countries. I work for a firm where 80% folks are either Indians or Chinese, and I love them just like I love others. I am curious as to why Indians feel the need to club with the Chinese, when the other side doesn't do so? Is it some form of one-sided bromance that I'm unaware of?
Lol chinese EB3 queue is actually faster in some cases. Some EB2s were dropping into EB3s because of that. It's a very different cohort of people. I don't think I've seen any going through consulting companies. Most of the H1Bs were oversea students who studied in the US. That number is topping off in recent years. Studying in the US isn't as desirable as it was seen a few years before. That's probably why the queue isn't bad. Most Chinese people I know haven't complained about the queue length. 5ish years in total isn't too bad.
You could make your point in a civilized way, and avoid histrionics. Clearly your education has failed you.
Ok. Letâs make it civilized: S386 is DEAD! LETâS PARTY! đđŒđșđŒ
Because they club desis into the Asian category
I have never once seen someone from China do that- IRL or on Blind.
Oh they did that in our office
I think China and India are the only two country having to wait for years for GC constantly. We share the pain bro⊠I believe if Congress can amend the law by adding legal review for all H1B->GC case, making sure no GC issued to those who cheated(filing multiple petition in the lottery or fake job through ICC), then folks will get GC way faster. The current mechanism works as, if any fake doc is provided in GC and citizenship process, the citizenship or GC can be revoked afterwards. That doesnât help with clearing backlog nowâŠ
>We share the pain bro⊠Let me guess: you're Indian?
2009 for India should be read as 1800. So about 200 years delay. Indians applying today will get in 200 years from now assuming the same pace.
Because their situation is actually caused by Indian consulting companies manipulating H1B visa system year after year since 1990s. So if they just complain about themselves, it sounds like criminals complaining the law being too tight. Chinese is the largest international student group in American universities. The backlog for Chinese is mostly related to problem of the green card system itself.
Ask congress why they had to bump up h1b numbers during Y2K time ? Next time ask US companies to diversify their offshore offices in all other countries to distribute backlog.
@Amazon: I don't quite follow the last part, how is the backlog for Chinese a problem of the green card system? Is it because they send more students to the US? That doesn't make sense.
