EB2 India priority date prediction for 2016
Hi all. I don’t quite understand how the Greencard priority dates progress or retrogress. But could someone please throw some light on why they have suddenly progressed significantly in 2021? Also, I am on H1B and I have a priority date of July 2016 in EB2 (I am of Indian origin - so stuck in the long cycle). When can this date realistically become current? I am considering moving back to India and then coming back when it becomes current. Any estimates for when the 2016 EB2 dates might become current? TC - 230K YOE - 6.5 years
A very long time. At least 5+ years. You can go whenever you want, you will retain your place in the priority queue..you will just have to convince an employer to sponsor your H1B to come back.
Yup. Thinking of doing just that. Better to be around family and friends rather than wait around here.

It progressed because more GCs that could not be awarded in non-EB categories overflowed into the EB category. It happened because people could not immigrate easily in those categories due to Covid. Jul 2016 priority date is still many decades away though for processing.
Ah ok. Anything more then maybe 4-5 years makes me think I’d rather live around my own family and friends and only consider coming back when it’s current if at all it still seems appealing to return at that time.
Eb2 moves about 3-4 days per month in the visa bulletin. So approx 1 month every year. So there’s your calculation.
Wait a minute. If you want to live close to your family why does GC matter? Are your parents/siblings/relatives all going to move to USA if you had GC?

20xx. That’s as good as anyone’s guess.
It could be a possibility if we get another 150k Spillover from FB and Congress makes no change to spillover usage. Both are Highly unlikely. In Oct and November 2021 30k FB visas were given out and 75k total visas were processed which are same as pre pandemic levels. We will see omicron affect in few months. But my guess is 20-30k might spillover moving EB2 dates by 2-3 months.

Hahaha. What an optimist… My pd is 2014 and i would be current near to 2030.. 2016 would be closer to 2035 or beyond at the current processing rate and available visa numbers. Don’t forget the influx from 2012-2016.
