TechLead: Why so many layoffs
Just received my H1B visa approval 2 days ago. Looking at next steps now. I could push to start the GC process but being from India, it seems like an uphill battle with God knows how long of a wait. I heard about EB2 and EB3 visa recently. Can anyone shed some light as for the qualifications, cap etc? I looked at USCIS’s website and ‘skilled professional’ seems like a super vague criteria. Some facts about me. I did my BS and MS in US. Have 2 YoE and work as a SWE at Apple.
The visa category is defined by the role for which they are applying the GC for. Not based on your qualifications or experience. If the role needs more than 5 years plus bachelors or 3 years plus masters, it will be EB2, else EB3. So, if the role needs 4 years plus bachelors, but you have 10 years plus bachelors, it doesn’t matter - it will still be EB3.
