L4 Google -> 45 interviews, 5 offers, AMA
I am an Indian citizen with a priority date of Aug 2014 . As per the Apr 2022 visa bulletin B. DATES FOR FILING OF EMPLOYMENT-BASED VISA APPLICATIONS has progressed to Sept 2014. What does this mean for me ? Am I under some kind of deadline now. I changed jobs 6 - 7 months ago and have not re-started the PERM process with current employer yet. Never expected these dates to jump by a year. I plan to speak to my manager / company lawyers about it this week though. At the same time I am interviewing for new roles and going to ask these employers about their green card process timelines for new employees. Would it be a good idea to change jobs if I really like the new role an if I get confirmation that they would be willing to start green card process immediately ? #workvisa #h1b #greencard #eb2 TC : 200k + paper money
Also if you are considering changing jobs, you could also consider going back to the previous employer who filled the original i140. That way you can instantly file for 485.
Also another option is to just ask them to file it without joining if they are willing to do that for you
Sony / kHtg85 - Thanks for the response . If I do move to the old employer through which my I-140 was approved , I would need to join very similar role and I guess level as well I think? I am / was in a somewhat niche tech role . So can't just apply for any SWE etc role. I also feel like it might become obvious that I am mainly interested to join them to get my green card and might leave after that. But I will think about it.
No impact! Don’t worry even if the date becomes current in final action chart. Some blogs claim: should file 485 within 1 year of being current. But AFAIK that applies only for outside/consular based applications. To be safe start the PERM process sooner if possible or atleast negotiate with new company about immediate PERM initiation
thanks for the response.
