Have been reached out by a recruiter in Hootsuite for a leadership role. Wanted to get some insights into the work culture and the general vibe there? From what I hear from the crecruiter everything is good, no layoffs and finally things are going in a straight clear direction. But I’ve read opposites on here and some of the reviews are dated (want to hear from folks both speaking positive and negative to get a balanced view as I’ve noticed most people tend to steer to negatives)… #hootsuite #tech #wlb
It seems like their pay is a bit lower than industry average as well - I guess if there’s more WLB and less stressful than higher paying big tech then I’m all for it
Stay away from Hootsuite. It's a sinking ship. Used to be good, but not anymore. You won't find WLB that you're looking for
I'm a long-timer at Hootsuite. I would stay away. I, and most the people I know, are actively looking for a move. The new CEO appears to be here to strip the company and sell it for parts. The environment is toxic as none of the company trusts leadership due to bad results and multiple rounds of layoffs. There is a serious micromanagement culture coming in at the moment and most people believe this is so they can continue to do layoffs.
Thanks everyone - sounds like it’s not worth interviewing for especially since they’d be paying less than current comps (only way I’d consider is a better WLB)
Currently at Hootsuite. WLB is awesome. Get your work done and nobody hounds you. Wellness week gets the whole company a week off at the same time in July. Half day Fridays in Q3. Lots of vacation days on top of that. Coworkers are great too. I can vouch for it being good.
The CEO isnt liked by those who actually dont like to work. Good performers are doing just fine. WLB is tricky only if you need to be in meetings with regions from the opposite timezone but it still can be managed if you are responsive and can make things work async. I would say interview and make up your mind in the offer stage.
Hootsuite did large layoffs in two rounds over the last few years because the business isnt growing. Less related to the recent large tech layoffs than to their own problems.
We've had 3 rounds in the last 9 months
