Agree? You need to spend another $40k before incentives to mitigate this issue with solar.

Thats true for California but not for rest of the states.
California is the real scam here
Where exactly do you get the 40k USD number from ? Your whole argument relies on the accuracy of the number , so please get it right with evidence backing up . Because my solar cost for 5.6kW is less than 20k USD.
My solar cost $45k for 12.5kw system with 2 batteries
EV is a scam? Nah. Are you complaining about energy prices? That's fair. I'd still think it works out cheaper than filling up with gas, but YMMV. I think residential solar is a scam. Expensive as fuck, may need a new roof to install, takes forever to make back your investment, etc. They also don't add much to the value of your home, especially since most owners take out a loan that will be passed onto the next owners if they sell.
Not true, with the incentives my state (nj) including selling srecs for 15 years gave I have a 5 year payback (bought system in full cash no loan) already completed and continuing to make 4k/year off it (2k worth of free electricity and 2k in srec income) And why would a solar loan be passed on to new owner
That's pretty great. Many electric companies aren't letting you sell back energy, so you've got a good thing going. As for the solar loan - I misspoke and shouldn't have said "most", but in competitive markets it's not abnormal for the seller to make it a condition that the buyer takes over the remaining loan for the panels, (happened to us when negotiating on a few homes a few years back). Or the price was inflated to cover the cost of the solar loan.
It’s cheaper for me to drive my gas car than to use my EV per mile thanks to PGE rates. It’s also cheaper for me to use my gas furnace than to be environmentally friendly and install a heat pump, thanks to PGE rates.
Can you share your math for the EV?
How many miles do you commute? If total is more than 40 miles and your gas and ev are similar sized/ similar class of vehicle then your EV is definitely cheaper.
Gas is 5.2$ in California. Even with a luxury equivalent gas car equivalent to Tesla model Y you will be paying for 25mpg gas. That’s 4.8 miles per $. You’re only saving money if you drive a budget gas car or budget electric car. That’s cars like Honda civic or Chevy bolt ev/euv. Anything above that and you’re already living luxury car life and expected to pay more whether it is gas or electric. Even if you save money there, insurance rates will eat you up.
When you buy luxury car, one should buy a car he loves and not because it is trending. I did the math between tesla and toyota highlander XLE hybrid years ago when gas hit $6+ . Toyota highlander was economical of course, but MUCH more practical and over the years it has been a great investment.
Yes but a lot of these people complaining about gas prices and electric charging prices are driving luxury cars. Tesla uses electricity like a luxury car. The miles per kWh usage is high. Even in model 3 because of the weight.
Charge off-peak for the cheapest rates. An EV is around $.11/mile. Current gas rates are double that.
Off peak PG&E is 0.48/kwh
Off peak PG&E is $.34578/KWh with 100% renewables.
Here in NJ PSE&G is around $0.22 and they give about 10 cents discount for off peak EV charging
My electricity in Austin is 9 cents per kwh after all the fees and markup. And no time of day BS to deal with
Lol yep paying 75cents per kw
Seriously? Thought average is 32 cents per kw and there's proposed bill not yet active to tie electric bills with income
You aren’t paying $.75/KWh, even with 100% renewable rates.
