I'm early in my career and this is my first job out of college, im making great money right out of college but not doing enough work. The culture here is great as well as the environment and office space, but im mainly make front end changes to highly visible website. I'm doing about 1-2 real hours of work everyday and it's not fulfilling. I've spoked to my manager about more work and he says it will ramp up soon but it's been a few months. Any suggestions on how I should move forward or what i should spend my free time doing?
LeetCoding, system design, open source tech Bear in mind that if your work doesn’t have impact your TL will not be able to justify high ranking and you won’t see decent increases.
I’ve been in your shoes before and here’s what I did. Leetcode 5 problems a day. Read up on system design (o’Reilly and grokking) everyday-ish. Signed up for a bunch of Udemy courses (kubernetes/docker, React, ML) and expensed them to the company. And started applying to a ton of jobs. Do enough to get by with Bloomberg and focus on filling in the gaps.
