How important are soft skills in tech interviews?
I'm in my final year (cs/ai major) in a no-name university in europe. Doing currently an internship as a swe in Thales (ex defense dept of alcatel and thomson). What in your opinion is a good way to start a career, knowing that I've started leetcoding not too long ago: Try to join (as a swe) a name company not cs oriented ( say GE or Airbus) or a product focused no name startup ? If my goal to to land a big tech swe job in a few years (3/4) ? Yoe 0 TC (intern TC) somewhat 1,5k$/month #engineering #software #swe
Dude GE is trash. Avoid at all costs
Can you elaborate ? Is it trash as a job or as a name to put on your resume ?
Yes.
Hey, aim higher. Airbus and GE are cool, but try to get into tech companies π
You can be a part of Thales too, although it's a old school company. I worked as a Big data engineer at Thales, although pay was not great but learning was good. You can keep leetcoding always. If your focus is learning a lot in a few years go for a start-up.
Yeah, except I'm not sure my team is taking full time swes at the moment. So a startup is better than a company like General Electric or Airbus ?
