Today's update: everywhere is dry expect a few areas under tiles. They suggested to take tiles out because 120 degree couldnt change it a bit.. So we ended the service and we probably do tiles ourselves. We had a water leak, we called a company to dry the damage to the walls and ceiling. It has been few days that their fans makes life unbearable. Bathrooms are 110 degrees and we cant live like this anymore so I asked them to finish it faster. The humidity hasnt reached the ideal number but it decreased significantly. They asked me to sign liability form since they are doing early stop in drying process. Should I be concerned about early termination or they are too picky? Home insurance is gonna pay this company though.
The larger problem is the amount of mold you’re going to have in your home long-term. You’re an idiot
They removed mold. Humidity decreased from 99 to 30. Why it needs to get to 16?
So the mold doesn’t come back… think more than 2 days in advance
Move to a hotel so you don’t have mold in your walls long term. This is a time to do it the way the professionals tell you to.
Who pays for the hotel?
Dude, you're so cheap that you don't want to pay for a hotel for your own comfort and future health? Wake up
Let the company finish the job, you don't want mold later.
On the web it says you can do it with hairdryer too. Lol. It has been few days and area under the tiles it doesnt move from 99% any lower. I dont think insurance pays more than few thousands. And the drying guy couldnt even tolerate the high temperature of bathroom he was soaked in sweat. I really dont think this gonna work.
Yeah...you should just burn the house down and get it over with
I'd wait for the walls to dry out, would even aim for lower humidity if possible. Believe me, mold is harder to take care later, and it can get unnoticed for a while in lesser amount, still having impact on your health. If the noise is really that unbearable, book a hotel room for a few days (you don't need a luxury one, just one that is ok).
It is not just noise. It is the high temperature. They gave me OK to take a bath in them and it is like sauna. There was no mold in there, can it get moldy later even with lower humidity that it initially had?
If it was wet at some point, the spores may already be there. Dropping the humidity will ensure that those spores don’t get a chance to colonize. Also, once its dried out, wouldn’t they need to do repairs as well? Ps: Start taking hot showers with the exhaust fan on and the bathroom doors open until the humidity drops …otherwise you are just elongating the process.
Dude everyone on this post has told you to let them finish the job and you aren’t listening. You obviously don’t want real advice, you just want someone to justify what you want to do.
This guy is stupid as well as cheap, don't waste time
Wow. Enjoy lung disease from black mold later if you don’t let this company fully finish water remediation.
I'm not the only "angry" one OP 😂
Don’t be cheap. Diffusion is the movement of a substance from an area of high concentration to an area of lower concentration . Diffusion occurs in liquids and gases when their particles collide randomly and spread out. Those particle collisions are directly affected by temperature. So, yes, they need to get the humidity as low as possible to pull the moisture out of the infrastructure as fast as possible. Go spend a few days in a hotel room, or use another bathroom, if it bothers you.
OP, you’re not smart. You may have some ability in your field, but that doesn’t make you an expert in mold remediation, home repairs, or general contracting. You don’t know better than the insurance company. When I was working tech support, I had more than a few customers who lamented their lack of computer knowledge, apologizing to ME for THEIR issue. I asked what they did for a living. “I’m a baker” “Cool, I burn water when I try to boil it. You focus on doing what you do well, and I’ll focus on what I do well.” You’re cheap. You don’t have the experience that the professionals have in this area. Just because they didn’t go to/graduate from college doesn’t mean you know more than they do. Eat the cost of a hotel and make sure your home is safe. Or don’t and get sick and you’ll deserve it.
100% ensure and validate that home insurance is going to pay the full amount which the repair guys will have the final invoice for.
For early termination you mean?i asked them and the company says insurance is understanding.. honestly I couldnt get the adjuster on the phone, been trying to call him this week, they dont amswe the phone. But it is very hot in bathrooms and we have to use it too So I guess humidity doesnt get to 0 ever.
