Hey managers, I have been offered a lead role and wanted your advice on how to apply for EB1 green card at the new position.
Have you been working for Microsoft outside the US for atleast one year?
No. Just went from Sr. to lead
Then it’s not possible. Familiarize yourself with the requirements for EB1C.
I am looking to see if this is even possible else might turn the offer
The way I thought, it's just not enough to be a manager. It has to be manager who worked in different countries - to be specific, I thought you should have worked as a manager at least for one year outside US with the same employer that is sponsoring the green card process.
Correct. Eb1 wont work for you, unless you can prove what the previous guy said or that you held a 'function' role similar to Manager, like pm of product line or similar
Managers go through eb1c, engineers go with eb1b. If your metrics are far beyond eb1b, give a shot at eb1a, which does not need much employer support.
Also you have to have L1 A status to make a strong case for EB1
Just curious why L1a is necessary. What it you are on H1b and also work at an international office for several months in the year as you manage people/product there as well? So could you aggregate a year of workex across the last 3 years at international locations and meet the criteria that way?
