Edge computing is really just a trendy way of saying constrained embedded distributed systems. AI is really just mathematician that can code. If you look at the trend you’ll see that edge computing is posed to be the next big trend after the recent big cloud explosion we had. AI is pretty far out tbh. I wouldn’t listen to a lot of the Silicon Valley bullshit around AI taking over the world and being advanced. Most of the AI/ML we have is just massive data sets and brute force algorithms. We’re far off from super advanced AI. With all that said I think if you want to optimize for 5-10 years out go with edge computing. If you want to optimize for 20 years out go with AI.
