😞 Girlfriend help! 😞
Hi Blinders! Have a few questions for this awesome community. 1. Does anyone know what the average compensation gaps may be (if any) between employees (same role/experience) who have different education levels? 2. If you're already employed, can you get a pay increase (in the same role) by simply completing a higher degree? 3. Do you believe that not having a higher degree would limit your opportunity to grow in a company? Lastly, choose your current education level in the poll. TC 150
1. Depends on the employees negotiating skills and over offers while looking for a job. 2. Probably not unless you are a rockstar coder. 3. No.
Don’t bother with an advanced degree unless you plan to use it for switching career paths. Save it for that option.
I'd say do a great Bachelor's. Higher than that needs to be really into something that is trendy or that won't translate into more TC.
I have an MS, but only recommend higher degrees if you want to go down management/executive track.
Thank you all for your feedback :)
In tech, there is no relation between TC and degree. Higher or otherwise. MBA may help in getting into management but I have seen non-MBA also get into management in tech. So don't think there is a clear relation even there.
Yeah. This usually falls into if you also propose having a mentor when you first start and the purpose of having one. E.g. such as mentorship for management training. I’ve seen thus usually help.
