I finally cracked the code on how to get a PM job at Google Step 1: Get the interview [This is the hardest part] Step 2: Prepare and study as best as you can Step 3: Proceed to not give a fuck if you get in or not [Most Important] I'm being a little facetious but not really. So many Blinders who are starry-eyed about getting into Google is actually quite disturbing. It's just another [albeit great] company. It's still run by regular people and regular people want to work with chill coworkers. So that's the advice I'm following as I proceed through my PM interviews. Just keep it chill. Be confident and excited. And most of all be prepared for disappointment. I'm probably not going to get in. And that's ok. If they like you, they'll reach out to you again in 6-12 months. Thank you for attending my Wendy's talk Edit: Oh, and always put users first when you answer. Not because that's what Google wants to hear. But because it's the right thing to do. Edit 2: Just heard back. I passed the phone round! Now to the on-site :) TC $145k YOE 5 #pm #product #productmanager #google
Any advice on getting the interview?
Referrals on Blind. It's the only reason I got reached out to
I like that 👍🏼
This is a great strategy. And +1 to putting users first because it’s the right thing to do.
I’d agree. Confidence and excitement go a long way in success in the interview process. won’t help you recover if you totally bomb it, but if you can have a fun engagement with the interviewer, the interview becomes less procedural and more like a conversation where the interviewer is more likely to subconsciously nudge you without taking points away from your performance. People sometimes forget an interview judges not just how you perform in solving a problem, but also whether you are even someone they want to work with.
Love the enthusiasm and totally agree on the Idgaf attitude. That’s how I passed my phone screen! Looking to apply that thinking to my onsites in less than 2wks too! Good luck to you!!
I have a phone round coming up in two weeks. Can you share your experience, please? What are the things you focused on/tips or advice?
Go to one of the offices at around 12am when no one’s around, that’s the easiest to break in. Or in broad daylight with a disguise
this is golden advice, thank you!
