I always admire elite fintech like Two Sigma or HRT or Jane St. So now what’s the equivalent elite companies in tech in 2023? After massive layoff, both Google and Facebook are down, I just feel confused what should be the target company for my next jump.
You gotta find something else to focus on my guy/gal. This isn't healthy.
I understand but I’m very motivated for my career. Want more money
Go to Jane Street then? It's not that complicated
LinkedIn is an elite company.. good pay master and a good brand.. Why do you want to jump ?
Horrible wlb, stock down, no refresh. It sucks
Thats still better than layoffs/PIP fears
Apple and Nvidia
Is "elite" the same thing as "prestigious"?
To me an elite company Atleast tries to make something innovative. Places like Jane Street, HRT or other HFTs just make shit which makes them money with zero practical usage for humanity as a whole.
You never get paid based on value produced, pay is based on bargaining power. Bargaining power is based on alternative options you have. Wealth is made from ownership, so being a founder. Government protects your property.
Deepmind (yes i know its technically google)
Albertsons

Is hiring/firing your bar to consider a company elite or not ? How shallow 😟
Would you join hire to fire? “Hey, I’m an sdm and I like all my sde. Can you please join for a year and help me meet pip quota? I’ll make an outlandish offer you can’t refuse.”
Right now i would say Block is pretty high, no layoffs, solid q4, and good wlb. Not super elite but if the stock runs a bit we can get there
Block and square, are they the same?

What’s your deal man? Who cares?
