I recently got an internship at Snap, and was asked to pick which team I'd like to work on. I'm a bit spoiled having worked at Google X and Tesla Autopilot, but I really like teams that have the most talented/innovative engineers and researchers. What would those teams be at Snap? For context, my focus is on mainly distributed systems and vision, but I've worked internships in ML and infra. #snap #snapchat #intern
Internal tools
can you explain more, like build tools, version control?
Nope, like the internal people directory, recruiter scheduling, email template. That’s usually where the money is.
Pretty sure that would be the team making the monkey filter
I kno ur joking but low key that’d be awesome to work on
UI team. They keep messing up the UI, so see it as an opportunity to make a positive change
I doubt Snap does the kind of moonshot work that you are used to. It's just a hodgepodge of FB, Insta and tiktok copying features from each other.
Not really looking for moonshot teams, per se. Just teams with a higher proportion of smart people to learn from
If you are looking for elite work at Snap then you are looking in the wrong place. 😔. It’s mostly just patchwork of poorly engineered services and features. But we pay well. So come here for money, not work.

Does the ad ranking team have a research component? Also, do you have any insight into the Perception team in NY?
