On my last month of employment (trying to keep it professional) I was working on a very technical and detailed blog post series. I finished it on my last day and followed up on fixes and proofreading out of my free time. Now the articles are up on the company’s blog (low traffic, bad looking). I asked for permission to post it on my Medium, linking to their website, writing it as theirs, etc but got denied. They wouldn’t even credit me when sharing the post on Twitter or anything.. and I feel it is going quite personal, might even be subconciously. What steps should I take if at all? I’m quite well connected and my LinkedIn profile is pretty strong, but I don’t feel like shaming is the way to go, would love to hear some opinions.
If they are public, go ahead and link them as long as you're not adding comments, misrepresenting/spinning, or taking credit for them in your post.
Why would you do that after already being told no? That's just asking for trouble.
For public information? Sounds like someone is on an ego trip to say no. Use your judgement, but what can they do?
You don't own the post or the writing, you performed it as work for the company. Move on.
Yeah was thinking the same, just feels so childish/lose-lose from their side but eh
