Hi All, I have been caught up in a weird problem now and want support of the learned community here . There has been an overlap of 14 days in my employment (last working day of company1 and joining date of company 2) between December last week - January 1st week. Company1 whom i was leaving extended my last working day by 14 days (due to winter holidays and ppl on leave during christmas) . Also the company2 HR (which i was joining) didn't agree to postpone my joining date (which was 1 day next to my "supposed" to ne last working day in company1") . I was asked by Comp 2 HR to just join for a day and then go on leave.(he wanted to ensure i join them and dont move away ) This whole thing accounted for an overlap of 14 days where i got paid from both. Now I have an offer from company 3 now and during its background check , they have raised concerns with me on this . They are also thinking of revoking my offer due to this 14 day overlap. I have all the docs with me (settlement sheet, relieving letters from comp1 ) its jsut that there is overlap. Can the learned ppl here help me on this or suggest something . yes I did , They just have a problem with the overlap and me getting paid . The companies create the salary slips based on the employment days . If there is a overlap , I am bound to get paid .I told them , companies cant create a unique pay slip generation criteria for me
Again the point is when you told about this overlap? Proactively before background check or after background check pointed it out.
reported to labour department in India ? there might be some deadline date for this right .If that was the case why the company 3 HR asked me to get it changed ? She must have known this already..
I have no ideas about India. Do not stress out. If the job goes, it goes. Next time be upfront about it.
What is the name of new company, which is doing background check and being so strict
Got my offer revoked ..this is unbelievable for corporates to ignore the 4 years of engineering and 8 years of work experience in fortune 500 over a 10 day overlap due to miscommunication

Company 2 let you join even after you told them you are still officially employed by company 1? Did you give company 2 your relieving letter from company 1 and they still did not mind?
Company2 did not even ask about this .and I also didn't not care that this can be an issue .However , I myself approached company 2 after being there ,for 4 months ..that I need the change ..They either missed it or did not check at all ..however I myself had told them about this. Overlap
And they don't mind now?
They told it is a compliance issue ..and now I haven't heard from them since 4 weeks . ...my manager also doesn't talk about it ..in short it's business as usual ... company 1 knows about it too as I myself told them through mail and phone ....they also disnt reply back ..it's silence now ... Now the question is how can this be resolved now on paper ...I need some help on that front .

If you were honest about this while filling up background check it should be fine. If not, it definitely generates a red flag around Honesty. Try talking about it to HR. In future be honest filling background forms. Companies look for lies and major criminal record etc. I have seen even felons getting job but you need to tell it on background form.
I sent them my relieving letters myself along with other documents they asked. I was honest. I also sent them my joining letter of my current company with all the dates CLEARLY mentioned . I even sent them my final settlement sheet from company1 .Basically i sent them all whatever they asked . I believe i am being honest here .I just expect their support in rectifying this and not revoke my offer.
which HR you directed me to ask? my current or the company which is doing my background check?
