Roles such as TPM, PgM are being made redundant across the industry, is it the end of such roles? #tech #tpm #pgm
Big tech companies used to hire for these roles
They dont need non-technical people anymore with chatgpt
Even technical people are not needed anymore.
AI is great found mindless tasks, until you actually need to do something. Try building data center without someone program managing it. Now do it globally.
Amen.
Yes, don't need them anymore. And Product managers or sales, support, executives etc. It's just you that's running the whole company. Don't worry π€£
Need sales, marketing, support and many other roles, just not tpm and pm, because they add no value.
Laid off TPM here, Iβd never go back to TPM role for job security
Have you found a new role? How long did it take?
Iβd say this is true unless you specialize in a niche. The combination of people skills, pgm skills, and specialized technical skills is a rare and valued resource.
TPM and PM played too much kingdom building on the back of actual engineers. Of course they're hit by layoffs too. Why would they be spared?
it's like testing, just push it off to the developers to do
1 TPM/PgM per eng scrum team would be needed tops, oops the PM is doing the job already. Nevermind
Not anytime soon but tech industry in general is very dynamic. So you never know
